Next Science Café: Thursday June 21st

We are pleased to announce an exciting line up for our next Science Café, taking place on Thursday June 21st at 7.30pm at Otley Courthouse, Courthouse Street Otley. Don’t miss the opportunity to fire questions at top scientists from around the region as they set out to encapsulate a key idea in just 10-15 mins and 20 slides. The line up:

  • The strange and scary new world of biological weapons and how to control them – Judi Sture (of the Bradford Disarmament Research Centre and Head of the Graduate School at Bradford University)
  • Climate change: Role of short lived forcings –Mat Evans (Visiting Academic at the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds & Prof of Atmospheric Chemistry Modelling at the University of York)
  • Primate communication in zoos and in the wild and what this can tell us about human behaviour – Katie Slocombe (Lecturer in Psychology at the University of York)

Marty Jopson of BBC TV’s the One Show who helps organise the event said:

We’ve got a great line up of enthusiasts so we’re expecting a really fun and inspiring evening. With ethics, the atmosphere and how chimps chat there’s something for everyone and everyone’s welcome! It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner, an expert or still at school, aged 9 or 90 or anywhere in between, come along to the Science Café!
