Science Fair

Science Fair mages

Everyone’s favourite – and it’s free!

Join local groups, regional museums and national organisations showing off the best of hands-on science in Yorkshire.

From physics to biology and engineering to wildlife come along to the Otley Courthouse for this year’s bustling Science Fair.

There really is something for everyone, with stalls, demonstrations, workshops and experiments to have a go at. Last year’s things to do included:

  • Create your own insta-cloud and hovercraft
  • Meet a real brain surgeon and create a piece of art
  • Find out about fun on the Chevin
  • Try out a Bloodhound land speed record kit
  • Find out how much pressure you are under from the atmosphere
  • See heat and the greenhouse effect with an infra-red camera
  • See if you can find the queen bee
  • See how we separate, analyse and understand cells and their DNA
  • Make a human cell using playdough
  • Find out about nesting swifts in Otley
  • Have a lucky dip dig for a fossil
  • Meet birds of prey and exotic animals
  • Learn how to give nature a home

This free family event attracts hundreds of visitors and this year we expect it to be bigger and even more fun.

The Fair will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 16th November. Come and join the fun at Otley Courthouse.

Cakes, teas, coffees and lunch are available in the café all day.
